Super Bowl Memory #5: Titans Come up 1-yard Short

http://www.weebly.com/uploads/4/0/8/5/4085211/1171470_orig.jpg?532Though Super Bowl week is an annually painful reminder of how terrible my beloved Browns was, is and probably will continue to be into the untold future, I fashion myself an aficionado of football excellence--30-plus years of rooting for the Browns give you an appreciation of good football.  With that said, this list are the moments that have left an indelible mark on my psyche that bring back the who, what, when where and why of the Super Bowl party that I was in attendance when they happened.

Not all the moments are individual plays, but, instead, the lasting the impressions had on the historical perspective, my overall football sensibilities, and some were simply Super Bowl moments that stuck out to me.

Feeling like a 'team of destiny' (I hate that term as much as the e-word quarterback I have banned from using on this blog), the Tennessee Titans rode the momentum of "Music-City-Miracle" all the way to Super Bowl XXXIV.

Steve McNair proved he was among the toughest quarterbacks to play the position In arguably the best Super Bowl played thus far.

The Titans stormed back from a 16-0 halftime lead to tie the game deep into the fourth-quarter on two Eddie George touchdown runs,a failed two-point conversion and a 43-yard Al Del Greco field goal.

Kurt Warner connected with Isaac Bruce for a 73-yard touchdown pass up the right side line with 1:54 remaining to put the St. Louis rams up 23-16, putting McNair in the position to be the first quarterback to win the Super Bowl in a true 2:00 situation.

Eighty-eight-yards from history,  McNair used a combination of precision passing and gritty elusiveness on several scrambles to get the Titans to the Rams' 10-yard line with six-seconds remaining.  The next play is one of those plays you hope the outcome is different eventhough you know what's about to happen next.

McNair hit WR Kevin Dyson on a quick slant at the 5-yard line.  Dyson tried to quickly turn it up-field for the score before Rams LB Mike Jone--Who?--could react, but Jone grabbed Dyson by the waist at the 0ne-yard line and Dyson could not reach the ball far enough to break the plain and their destiny ride was one yard short.
